October holds a series on the history of Black Churches, in which Philadelphia is so rich, Absalom Jones and Richard Allen, the rise of Black denominations including the African Methodist-Episcopal. The first class, this week, will be led by Erlis Wickersham  who will lead the discussion and give us interesting information about Absalom Jones. Fr. Conor will lead us further into this topic on Oct. 11.

On Oct. 18, we will host a special guest, Pastor April McCain, who will visit and teach about the history of the African Methodist-Episcopal church. Oct. 25 will begin a series of two classes on the history of mission work in the Episcopal church and the mission work that we currently do at St. Mary's. Twila Garletts will lead the first class on the history of missionary work in the Episcopal church and Peter Burke and Andrew Clifford will lead the class on our current mission work at St. Mary's on Nov. 1.The next three classes, Nov. 8-22, will begin with Erlis Wickersham leading the class on agricultural images in the Old and New Testaments. Fr. Conor and Erlis will lead the following two class discussions about agricultural images in scripture, what they symbolize, and how these images can apply to our faith and lives.There will be no class Sunday, Nov. 29 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.Advent Quiet Morning on Saturday morning, Dec. 5, will be led by Fr. Conor on the topic of Hope in Christ. Everyone is invited to look at Hope in Christ from a theological and personal point of view. What is it like to be a person of hope? What does it feel like? How do you develop an attitude of hope?The bishop  will be with us Dec. 6 and there will be no class.On Dec. 13 and 20, Fr. Conor will continue our classes on Hope in Christ.Dec. 27 - Twila Garletts will lead us in a Christmas Carol Sing.
