It's a new season and we're hoping our diverse selection of topics for classes will intrigue you. We're beginning with the mysterious topic "What Is Hell? It May Not Be What You Think It Is." Last season we talked about heaven, so this season we decided to look at the other side.

On THIS SUNDAY Sept. 13, Fr. Conor will discuss the Garden of Eden and the Fall. This topic looks at the idea of hell as separation from God in that God created Adam and Eve to be companions to Him but they hid after disobeying Him. Also up for discussion - What do you think about hell? Is there a literal hell? What is it like?

Sept. 20 and 27, Fr. Conor will continue the topic of "What Is Hell?" These discussions include the topic of how hell has been seen throughout history, Dante, Lewis, maybe even images from the current movie (and ancient book) The Odyssey.

October will hold a series on the history of Black churches, in which Philadelphia is so rich, Absalom Jones and Richard Allen, the rise of Black denominations including the African-Methodist Episcopal. There will be a guest speaker on Oct. 18.

After that will be a series on the history of missionary work in the Episcopal church.

Then, discussion of agricultural images in the Old and New Testaments, what they represent, and how these images can apply to our faith and lives.

Advent Quiet Morning will be on the topic of "Hope in Christ." Led by Fr. Conor, we will learn about looking at Hope in Christ from a theological and personal point of view. What is it like and how does it feel to be a person of hope?

The year will end with Twila Garletts leading a Christmas Carol Sing on Dec. 27.
